Today was a quiet day in the studio, it being a holiday and everything. Holiday, in this case, a day off for Sensei and Megumi. Because Sensei works the weekends, he allows himself a holiday during the week. I think this is because since most other people have the weekend off, that is when he receives a majority of his buisness. When I awoke it was raining so I did not get to go on my walk right away (but I did take two later in the day after the rain had stopped) so I listened to the rain for a bit before heading down to the studio to work. It was relaxing and did make me want to go back to sleep, but never-the-less I got to work. Sensei's mom was in for a little while and she was so kandaina (generous) as to prepare tea for me at tea time. She even brought it to me in the studio for when I was at a good stopping point with my work. If anything, it is this hospitality and thoughtfulness that I will bring home with me and incorporate into my studio practice. |
Since I had made it goal to practice throwing off the hump and preparing myself for a production mode (even though I am still trying to slow down some because shipping everything home will be expensive), this is what I did. I received a nice little camera as a graduation gift for this special trip and I am enjoying figuring out all the settings and special effects it can do. It being a quiet day in the studio, I thought I would document it through images for you. I worked in the studio, went for 2 walks, explored Sensei's collection rooms, flipped through some of his books, and made a nice little photo montage for you. I hope you enjoy and motto (more) to come later. Best wishes for back home!
